Where's Waldo? - The North Haven Edition

Today, North Haveners all received a special gift in their Advisor: the North Haven Edition of Where’s Waldo?

And who better to play Waldo in North Haven but our very own Kevin Kopetz.

In the photos in the Civic Calendar that’s inside each of our Advisors, I found Kevin Kopetz 11 whole times.

But maybe you can find him more. Whoever can find him the most gets a signed photograph of ... well, you know who.

And whoever thinks it’s right for a candidate to use town money for such a bald campaign ploy, you can have two signed photographs of ... who else.

You may have hit upon Mr. Kopetz's real calling! He might indeed function acceptably as an unpaid honorary Mayor. In this capacity, he would be tasked with performing photo ops, ribbon cuttings, ground breakings, and baby kissings. Unfortunately, we are actually paying him 6 figures to do these things!

If the voters of North Haven don't wake up and smell the corruption, they better get used to seeing his mug, because these guys will be more abrasive than ever if they win.God help us

Check out the NH Register today. Not only is the P&W Zoning Mtg. date changed (one article) - it also lists the contractors that will be working on it including the Maguire Group-donor to the Kopetz campaign and company responsible for the mess on I-84's drainage system. They'll be the sewer consultant...poor Quinnipiac River! Another article (with picture) shows Mr. (Photo-Op) Kopetz dedicating the new Field House, that was "donated" by local unions-the same local unions where he had a fundraiser (in Hamden) and who donated THOUSANDS to his re-election campaign. I see ethically dangerous territory here-quid pro quo??

In response to the latest Anonymous, I write very quickly.

In respone to "way too much time on your hands"
Uncalled for, this town should be thanking you for your time and efforts to educate them w facts. But, too often, it appears that smears not facts are this town's lifeblood.

In response to "way too much time" - some people in town are obviously angry enough about the status-quo to make time. North Haven owes Mr. Weschler a big "Thank You", not snarky remarks!

The "way too much time " comment probably came from someone at town hall while on our dime!!

Please help me see,as a newcomer to North Haven,I would like to know what they put in the water in North Haven that could make people not see the obvious political mugging that the dominant party gives the taxpayers.
I look at this current administration's defenders and say to my self, what could possibly fuel such passion in these people? Don't they pay the same taxes I do? Don't they see the dismissive and arrogant behavior on the boards? Do their children have monitors on their buses? Were they allowed to use the pool and the library when they were closed? Did their assesment get done a year later than mine? Are they not angry about the millions of dollars wasted not getting competetive bids? Ect. Ect.
What fuels them? I find this extremely intruiging. Does simple party loyalty drive them to not see what blatantly appears to be to me a seriously flawed system. If these shortcomings manifested in the private sector, a major house cleaning of personel would have taken place long ago. Yet in North Haven it is not only tolerated but vigorously defended. To the current administration's defenders I ask to please help enlighten me,hopefully in a civil manner, to your motivation. I have only lived in this town for 5 years and I am extremely interested in gaining some insight into this. I feel maybe there is a piece of the puzzle that I am not seeing here.

I think its sad that this informative blog has been reduced to name calling. A Town official like Mr Kopetz brings many photo opps. Look at the papers everyday. There is always a selectman or mayor pasted all over the place. What bothers me is that you have condemned those who call you names but yet feel it is OK for you to do it. Really a sad day for the blog. And you try to sell yourself as an ethical person. You havent fooled too many!

I agree with Marybeth! Who are these hordes of citizens so vocally supporting the Kopetz regime? How large is the group that benefits from and supports this administration(wives, mothers, fathers, cousins, sons, daughters - could more than half the town have beneficial connections)? From all the revelations of benefits and perks to the insiders of our town it is no wonder they are so desperate to hold their power. But what about the rest? Even if they are not getting their facts from this site, the newspaper info should be enough to horrify a normal voter. North Haven is looking more and more like a scenario from a bad horror story. I simply cannot understand the tolerance and support of this corrupt town administration.

In response to the most recent Anonymous, saying that the Town Calendar was sent out at election time and featured a principal candidate, at taxpayers' expense, is not name-calling. It's a complaint about the use of public funds.

There are dozens of town officials and employees whose pictures could have been featured in the Town Calendar, not to mention town citizens.

Just a response to Mr Wechsler latest comment. The Town calendar has been distributed through the advisor at this time of the year for as long as I can remember. A town resident for 14 years should know that!

Anonymous, you're right. I'm sorry. I should have said that this practice was nothing new. Mr. Kopetz and his predecessors have been doing this for years.

That doesn't make it right.

To those of you who feel that there is too much name calling on this blog site, let me take it one step further and be more specific. It is being closely scrutinized for its libel and slanderous commentary.

This site is a lawsuit waiting to happen. Be careful.

In response to the last Anonymous, there is definitely too much name-calling here, but it's not defamatory. It's the venting of years of frustration and anger against town officials who have treated people with disdain, who have intimidated people, who have made misrepresentations.

America is a land where you can openly criticize your town officials without worrying about being sued. And the officials feel free to openly criticize us, as well.

The one thing about this site that I don't like is the anonymity of nearly all the people who write comments. Cowardice is what it's really about, not privacy, and cowardice (I'm talking about moral courage here) is a big problem in our town government, both behind the board tables and out in the audience.

For example, Town Attorney Jeffrey Donofrio can misrepresent a case before the Town Meeting, and when I write about it and send my blog entry to him, he does not respond. He neither defends his position before the town, nor apologizes. He has an obligation to us, but instead he hides from us. For him it is just a strategy. Everything is a strategy. But strategies are used against enemies. Are we his enemy?

Where are all the town officials in this conversation? They may be everywhere, but we don't know.

I believe that any official who hides from the people of this town, who will not openly share in this conversation or answer our questions at meetings, should resign from office.

And citizens should come out of hiding, as well.
